Subject Matters - The Vatican Prophecies
Miraculous apparitions and apocalyptic prophecies are headline-making events that often put the Catholic Church’s concept of “rational faith” at odds with the passion of its more zealous followers. Each supposed miracle or apparition could have serious theological and political consequences, and the Vatican treads carefully using a highly secretive and complex evaluation system to judge the authenticity of supernatural events. In “The Vatican Prophecies,” renowned journalist John Thavis brings his thirty years’ experience in covering the Vatican to shed light on this little-known process, revealing deep internal debates about the legitimacy of miraculous cures, private revelations, exorcisms, and other inexplicable events. Join host Sebastian Gomes as he sits down with John Thavis to explore some of the most controversial supernatural events of our time and analyze the Vatican’s delicate responses.

The Francis Impact
Pope Francis has been pope for six extraordinary years. In that time he has graced the cover of countless magazines and news media; movies and television series have been made of his life and reforming efforts; world leaders line up at the Vatican to greet him and seek council. Francis has not shied away from the messiness of ordinary life, or the complexities of our global challenges. He’s written and spoken on the environmental and refugee crises, the inequality of economic structures, the necessity for dialogue between faiths and cultures, and the need for the church to change its approach to complex pastoral situations. For many people around the world, he is the most authentic and credible moral leader. As courageous and popular as Francis is, his impact cannot be restricted to a type of celebrity status. Francis himself does not like to be in the spotlight, but seeks to encourage and empower people of all walks of life to work together in a tangible way to build a better world. The Francis Impact tells the stories of some of these individuals and communities who have been impacted by Pope Francis. They are stories of empowerment, unexpected collaboration and deep transformation, in the areas of ecology, migration, inter-faith dialogue and pastoral reform. Far from the corridors of the Vatican, the real Francis impact is lived and felt among ordinary people who have been inspired by the Pope’s call for more compassion, inclusion, sustainability and dialogue in a world torn apart.

Witness - Mark Shriver
Mark K. Shriver, born February 17, 1964, is the son of Sargent Shriver and Eunice Kennedy, the sister of John, Robert and Ted Kennedy. He served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates for two consecutive terms, from 1995 to 2003. He is currently president of Save the Children Action Network in Washington, D.C. His New York Times and Washington Post bestselling memoir, A Good Man: Rediscovering My Father, Sargent Shriver, was published in June 2012 and received a 2013 Christopher Award. In this riveting WITNESS interview with Fr. Thomas Rosica, this young, articulate, distinguished member of the Kennedy family openly shares how he grew “disillusioned” with the Roman Catholic Church until Pope Francis came along in 2013 and breathed new life into it for him. As Shriver followed the pope’s travels, gestures and words, he wrote: “I started to emerge from my Catholic funk.” He decided to embark on writing a book about Pope Francis by traveling to Argentina and Italy to discover how Jorge Mario Bergoglio grew into a change agent in one of the world’s most entrenched religious organizations. The result is Pilgrimage: My Search for the Real Pope Francis. In the process of writing the book, Shriver rediscovered a Church in which he could believe again and learned some powerful lessons in humility and mercy. Mark is married to Jeanne, and they have three children, Molly, Tommy and Emma, in Maryland. In this riveting WITNESS interview with Fr.
