Word for Word - Divine Family
In the very first point of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, we read this… that God “calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church… In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life.” This is language we hear frequently in the Church, that of the family and our place within it. God the Father, Christ his Son, we as brothers and sisters, and the Church as mother. At the very least, this language should inform us or reassure us that we are not orphans as we journey on this earth. But at it’s greatest potential, this language hints toward our place within a divine family tree, whose roots are firmly planted in the Garden of Eden. In this episode of Word for Word, we take you to Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, where author Scott Hahn outlines God’s great love in our lineage as he talks to us about his books A Father Who Keeps His Promises and First Comes Love: Finding Your Family in the Church and the Trinity.

Subject Matters - Blessed Among Us
Since the early centuries, Christians have held up the saints as models of living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. While the church officially recognizes a relatively small number of saints, the actual roster is infinitely wider. Blessed Among Us explores this eclectic "cloud of witnesses" lay and religious, single and married, canonized and not, and even non-Christians whose faith and wisdom may illuminate our path. Brought to life in the evocative storytelling of Robert Ellsberg, they inspire the moral imagination and give witness to the myriad ways of holiness. Blessed Among Us is drawn from Ellsberg's acclaimed column of the same name in Give Us This Day, a monthly resource for daily prayer published by Liturgical Press. (Liturgical Press)
19:00
Seven Deadly Sins, Seven Lively Virtues - Envy and Admiration
Join Father Robert Barron for this engaging presentation concerning the Seven Deadly Sins, those great spiritual blocks that inhibit our flourishing in relationship with God and one another. Based on Dante’s writings, the seven deadly sins correspond to the seven stories of Dante’s Mt. Purgatory. Pride, envy, anger, sloth, gluttony, avarice and lust are all presented as patterns of dysfunction within us that lead to unhappiness.
