Sr. Barbara Reid is a Dominican Sister of Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is currently Vice President and Academic Dean of Catholic Theological Union, in Chicago. Sr. Barbara holds a Masters from Aquinas College in Religious Studies, and a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from The Catholic University of America, in Washington, D.C. She is the author of Abiding Word: Sunday Reflections for Year B (Liturgical Press, 2011; Year C, 2012, Year A, 2013), Taking Up the Cross: New Testament Interpretations Through Latina, and Feminist Eyes (Fortress Press, 2007; Spanish translation: Reconsiderar la Cruz, Editorial Verbo Divino, 2009), The Gospel According to Matthew. New Collegeville Bible Commentary Series (Liturgical Press, 2005), Parables for Preachers (3 volumes; Liturgical Press, 1999, 2000, 2001; Spanish translation: Las Parábolas: Predicándolas y Viviéndolas (Ciclo A, B, 2008, 2009), Choosing the Better Part? Église en sortie est une émission sur la réalité de l’Église au Québec et au Canada francophone. Animé par Francis Denis et d’une durée de 25 minutes, Église en sortie est diffusée les vendredis soirs à 19h30. Gardant une perspective missionnaire, cette production originale de S+L vise à informer les catholiques et tous les francophones du Québec et du Canada sur les différentes initiatives apostoliques et catéchétiques des différentes églises locales. Suivant l’invitation du pape François à la transformation missionnaire de l’Église, Francis Denis et ses invités vous accompagneront chaque semaine à la découverte de cette Église “en sortie” qui, selon les mots mêmes du Pape argentin: « est la communauté des disciples missionnaires qui prennent l’initiative, qui s’impliquent, qui accompagnent, qui fructifient et qui fêtent » (EG, no 24).

Rev. Patrick J. Ryan, S.J., is the Laurence J. McGinley Chair in Religion and Society at Fordham University. A native New Yorker, Patrick Ryan entered the Society of Jesus in 1957. Following his ordination to the priesthood, he earned a Ph.D. in the history of religion (with a specialization in Arabic and Islamic Studies) from Harvard University, where his mentor was the famous Canadian scholar of Islam, Wilfred Cantwell Smith. For about half of his life as a Jesuit priest, he has served in Africa, mostly in Nigeria and Ghana. Fr. Ryan is an internationally acclaimed theologian, historian, teacher and expert in the “trialogue” of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. In this in-depth WITNESS interview, Fr. Ryan shares his great knowledge of Islam and helps us to understand better the urgency and necessity of dialogue with Muslims in today’s world.
